EDEN BENEFITS FROM LINKTIP EXPERIENCE
With Colin Nineham’s thirty years of experience in the recycling sector, Eden Community Recycling Ltd, (ECR) have worked hard to build up the business which is recognised in the northwest. With a new vehicle from LinkTip, they are continuing their vital work in Cumbria …

Eden Community Recycling is a not-for-profit organisation that grew out of a voluntary group, Eden Charity Recycling, from one collection point in Penrith’s fire station car park in 1981 organised by Colin, the business has grown continuously and now has its own depot and provides recycling services across Cumbria.
ECR offers a full range of recycling services for commercial waste around the county and collects from over 70 domestic recycling centres in Eden.
With seven employed staff and a band of willing volunteers ECR has introduced a number of ‘firsts’ in the area, including the first to collect aluminium foil in 1993, plastic’s in 2000, beverage cartons in 2005 and polystyrene in 2007.
The new LinkTip MP2 will be used for plastic recycling collections from the domestic bring sites, replacing a previous vehicle equipped with LinkTip equipment. The vehicle body will enable ECR to continue collections of plastic recycling banks.
With each bank weighing 200-300 kilos when full, a reliable and compatible vehicle was essential and with the plastic banks designed for LinkTip equipment, a new vehicle from the Group was the natural choice.
All proceeds from ECR’s recycling activities go into improving facilities and services as well as trailing new initiatives and if that wasn’t enough they also support schools and community groups by giving them donations. LinkTip is proud to be assisting ECR with its continued work in Cumbria.
ECR’s Managing Director, and Leader of Eden District Council, has been recognised as the region’s top Environmental Champion “Leader” in this year’s Northwest Business Environment Awards held on the 25th June 2009 at Old Trafford, Manchester, as the Champions winner Colin got a tour of the home of Manchester United.

The MP2 is a tried and tested body with a great pedigree. This simple workhorse has been specified hundreds of times over the year and is part of LinkTip’s range of demountable.
Other models include the GLD system for truck chassis in the 7.5 - 32.0 tonnes GVW class, giving good payload potential while maximising productivity through greater chassis utilisation. the GLD4 has been specially designed for modern 7.5/10.0 GVW chassis and is not an adaption of a heavier design pared down. Nor does the GLD4 suffer from unnecessarily high loading height often found on larger hooklifts. In fact LinkTip demount bodies are often no higher than standard tipper bodies, so vehicle centre of gravity and handling is not affected. A unique feature of the GLD4 system is it's inter-changeability with larger LinkTip GLD5/8/10 bodies if required. This enables lighter chassis to deliver empty bodies for loading or, equally, heavier GVW chassis to lift GLD4 bodies to further maximise chassis utilisation.
The GLD2 & 3 ground level demountable body system from LinkTip opens up a new era in higher productivity and chassis utilisation. The GLD2 system is designed to offer the ultimate balance between the design strength you need for tough operations with the ability of a viable payload margin for LCV's up to 3.5 tonnes GVW, and interchange with chassis of 6.4 tonnes GVW hence greater payload, same equipment. LinkTip specialises not only in ground level demountable systems, but in the design and production of a wide range of specialist body structures based on our own ground loading subframes.
The choice of body is yours, bodies can either be dropped off for loading while the chassis cab is used elsewhere or, a range of differing body types constructed to fit each chassis to make the most of seasonal, or even daily demands. Remember, the LinkTip system is not just a ground level loading body demount system, but a swop body system, a tipper and tilt bed transporter all in one!
